Early Essential Newborn care (EENC) and Kangaroo Mothercare are 2 cost-effective interventions to promote new-born health and survival. EENC involves immediate drying of baby after birth, skin to skin contact, delayed cord clamping and early initiation of breast feeding. The Neonatal Mortality rate in Pakistan is 55/1000 livebirths whereas in Punjab is 63/1000 Livebirths. These simple interventions are cost effective and can ensure a decrease in IMR and help achieve the SDG target of 12/1000 livebirths by 2030.
